Microsoft Excel Comprehensive

Description

This class will give you a working knowledge of electronic spreadsheets, what they are and how to use them. You will be able to create and format Excel spreadsheets that include charts and multiple worksheets. You will be able to create and execute formulas and use the Excel functions. Data sorting and manipulation are also covered. You will learn to create three-dimensional workbooks, and to link workbooks. You will create financial forecast spreadsheets using the Excel financial functions. You will learn to work with the workgroup features of Excel. You will learn to import data into an Excel spreadsheet and will work with the data using the data management functions of Excel. You will create Excel macros and will learn the basics of VBA.

Lesson 1: Getting Started

Version 2007:  Review online materials and read chapter 1 in your book titled "What's New in Excel 2007."

Versions 2003 and 2002:  Review online materials and read chapter 1 in your book.

Lesson 2: Introduction to Microsoft Excel

Read and work through chapter 2 in your book called " Setting up a workbook."

Lesson 3: Working with Data and Data Tables

2007 version:  Read and work through chapter 3 in your book titled "Working with Data and Data Tables."

2002 and 2003 versions:  Read and work through chapter 3 in your book titled "Performing Calculations on Data."

Lesson 4: Calculations and Document Appearance

2007 version:  Read and work through chapter 4 titled "Performing Calculations on Data," and chapter 5 titled "Changing Document Appearance."

2002 and 2003 versions:  Read and work through chapter 4 titled "Changing Document Appearance."  Due to differences in book versions, you may need to refer back to the previous chapter if needed for some topics in this unit.

Lesson 5: Lists and Data Management

2007 version:  Read and work through chapter 6 titled "Focusing on Specific Data Using Filters," and chapter 7 titled "Reordering and Summarizing Data."

2002 and 2003 versions:  Read and work through chapters 5 titled "Focusing on Specific Data Using Filters," and 7 titled "Reordering and Summarizing Data".  

Lesson 6: Consolidating Data and Data Sets

2007 version:  Read and work through chapter 8 in your book titled "Combining Data from Multiple Sources" and chapter 9 titled "Analyzing Alternative Data Sets."

2002 and 2003 versions:  Read and work through chapter 6 in your book titled "Combining Data from Multiple Sources" and chapter 8 titled "Analyzing Alternative Data Sets."

Lesson 7: PivotTables, Charts and Graphics
