Parenting or teaching a strong-willed child can be a challenge on even the best of days. The way they respond to world and to you is different from that of most other children. And the techniques you use to reach other children don't work on them or worse, backfire completely. The way to reach them is not to break their will but to channel it so that it becomes an asset to them as they grow older. In this course we will explore various approaches to working with these challenging childrent that also work great on the less challenging ones.
Objectives
Students will identify characteristics of a strong-willed child.
Students will identify reasons a strong-willed child creates problems and identify advantages strong-will can have in the long run.
Students will explore various methods of ending the power-struggles with strong-willed children.
Students will identify ways of motivating strong-willed children.
Students will identify ways of helping their strong-willed children succeed in school.
Students will explore ways to make their homes or classrooms more positive for the strong-willed child and the people they interact with.
Students will review what they have learned and reflect on the changes they have made to dealing with their strong-willed child.
