Lesson 1: Accounting Terminology and QuickBooks Introduction

Read Unit 1 in your book titled "Getting Started" and be sure to work through the Independent practice activity and review questions at the end of the unit to be sure you can demonstrate your knowledge of what was covered.  If you have any questions or need to check your answers, please post a question to the classroom.

In this first lesson you will also get an introduction to accounting terminology that you should be familiar with as a small business owner.  You will be shown some financial statments so that you can start to get an idea of the accounts listed on each.  You will also be given the opportunity to learn the difference between the cash and accrual basis of accounting.

Before you begin any given lesson, you may want to print the quiz for that lesson and keep it next to you as you work through the course.  When you are ready, you can go in and complete the quiz online.  The questions are meant to help you learn some of the material and to make you think about things important to business owners.
